Mid-FL SHRM Student Chapter

About the Student Chapter

The Mid-FL SHRM Student Chapter at Polk State College was established in 2022 to support students pursuing careers in human resources. The chapter is affiliated with SHRM, the global professional organization for HR professionals, and receives support from the local Mid-FL SHRM chapter.

The process of forming the chapter began with the application to charter the group on May 23, 2022. Following the submission of the formation petition on July 8, 2022, the first club meeting was held in August. The SHRM Chapter Agreement was officially submitted on September 1, 2022, marking the formal launch of the chapter with an initial membership of 12 students.

 

Our Purpose & Mission

The purpose of the Polk State Student SHRM Chapter is to provide professional education, networking opportunities, and career resources for students interested in the field of Human Resources.

By fostering a supportive and engaging community, the chapter empowers students to explore HR careers while benefiting from the guidance of Mid-FL SHRM and the broader SHRM network.

 

Activities and Achievements

The Mid-FL SHRM Student Chapter is committed to offering meaningful experiences for its members through a variety of initiatives:

• Meetings: Hosting eight member meetings annually with a diverse range of speakers and topics.
• Career Readiness Workshops: Two workshops were held in 2023, with two additional workshops planned for 2024.
• Community Service: Active participation in service activities alongside the Mid-FL SHRM professional chapter.
• Event Updates: Regular announcements of HR-related workshops and events from SHRM, Mid-FL SHRM, Career Source Polk, SCORE, and other organizations.
