Summary: Steve Scruggs, President of the Lakeland Economic Development Council and general champion of Lakeland and the surrounding area, will be sharing all the great aspects of our region and reviewing strategies to recruit and retain talented employees. He will also expand on how “YLakeland” (part of Catapult Lakeland, an initiative of the Lakeland Economic Development Council) helps connect students, young professionals, and New people to Central Florida with the community and assets that make Lakeland unique. They will keep you in the know on events, things to do, new businesses, and much more. They strive to give you an insider’s perspective on the amazing things our community has to offer and the people that make living in Lakeland such a wonderful place to call home.

Speaker Bio: Steve Scruggs is President of the Lakeland Economic Development Council (LEDC), a private, non-profit organization with approximately 135 member companies. Steve has been with the LEDC since 1987. The LEDC’s primary role is to create jobs and capital investment by attracting new companies as well as facilitating the expansion of existing companies in the Lakeland area.

Steve’s responsibilities at the LEDC include; Board of Directors, Budget, Catapult, YLakeland, Investor & Community Relations, High Skill High Wage, City Visits & Government Affairs, Policy, Value Proposition, Mission & Vision.

Steve is married to Tammy and they have three children.
