Summary: Join us for a comprehensive legal update for employers presented by Amanda Walls of Peterson & Myers. Once someone finally feels like they truly understand employment law, it changes. So much of what HR professionals must do is stay abreast of key changes in the laws and legal interpretations that affect the workplace. This update will take a broad view of recent developments, including new court decisions that impact employment and human resources.
1. Understand current enforcement statistics and initiatives of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as the impact of recent EEOC settlements and verdicts.
2. Explore the emerging confluence of the ADA, medical and recreational marijuana use laws, the opiate addiction crisis, and traditional drug free workplace policies.
3. Examine the issue of Equal Pay cases, claims, and EEOC enforcement efforts.
4. Provide a general update on recent Florida cases involving recurring issues in employment law, including leaves of absence/FMLA, Title VII and other protected class discrimination, and wage & hour.
