Kirk D. Fasshauer, LCSW, FT, CTM, is Director of Crisis Response Services for Peace River Center. He has been with Peace River Center for 22 years and developed the Mobile Crisis Response Team. Kirk has 30+ years of various mental health and psychiatric emergency health care experience. Kirk holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. He is also a trained crisis/hostage negotiator working with Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Lakeland Police Department for 17 years.
Mr. Fasshauer is a Master Trainer/Certified Instructor for Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and has provided/facilitated CIT training for approximately 3,000 local law enforcement officers in Polk, Highlands and Hardee Counties. He has been a trainer for Polk County Institute of Public Safety instructing law enforcement officers in Crisis Management/Intervention and Stress Management. He was an adjunct professor at Florida Southern College where he instructs on Clinical Sociology, Urban Sociology and Intro to Sociology.
As a subject matter expert member, he has worked with the State of Florida in developing a disaster behavioral health plan as part of the State's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and has been deployed to various locations, nationally and internationally, to provide disaster behavioral health response as a certified Field Traumatologist.
