GED to SVP:  Leadership Strategies I Learned on the Journey to My Seat at the Table

If you had asked me 40 years ago where I would be at 55, I would have said, “planning on retiring as a school teacher.”  Often, the dreams we have as kids do not always work out, and we find ourselves on a completely different path.  Like many HR professionals, I did not begin my career in HR; instead, I fell into it and grew where I was planted.  In this session, I will share the valuable leadership strategies I learned in over 25 years of working in the field of HR, from early days in my first HR role to today as a senior vice president.

  • Identify strategies that limit us from advancing in our career

  • Learn alternative strategies that will positively impact our careers in new and better ways

  • Understand that we must adopt a strategy of beginning with the end in mind, focusing on the right things at the right time.
